I did not train you to be a demon or a human. I showed you how to be an artist. To be an artist is to do one thing only. Look at me. Cannot fight or weave or farm. I make swords. I cook for strength to make good swords. I study the Sutras to cleanse my heart to make good swords.

In his later life he took in Mizu as his apprentice. He raises her as his own, making her his eyes. As Mizu gets older, he finds out that she is practicing her swordsman skills. Despite not really approving, he lets her practice at night. When Mizu grows up Master Eiji gifts Mizu a sword to use.
Personality[]
Master Eiji is blunt, caring, resourceful, wise, and calculating.
Relationships[]
Mizu[]
The two first crossed paths when both of them wanted to pick up a meteorite ore, they worked together to pick it up as Eiji would take the metal back to his workshop, joined by Mizu who stayed at the workshop, much to Eiji's surprise who told her to leave however when Mizu stayed put and slept there overnight, Eiji allowed her to stay with him permanently and made her his apprentice, also mistaking her as a boy. Mizu would from then on help and assist Eiji in his daily life as well as crafting swords, learning the art of sword making herself. Eiji would also allow Mizu to train in sword fighting during night, (to fulfil her desire to kill the white man who raped her mother and caused her to be born), and when Mizu would leave home to fulfil her quest of vengeance during the mid 1650's, she gave a farewell to Eiji and thanked him for his kindness to her. Eiji commented her to have been a stupid boy and now a stupid man, but nonetheless respected Mizu's determination in life. After Mizu became seriously injured after a fight, Ringo would take her and Taigen to Master Eiji's workshop where they could recuperate, who accepted them, this was also where Eiji met Ringo and Taigen for the first time and reunited with his old apprentice.
Ringo[]
Eiji and Ringo first met when Ringo went to Eiji's workshop, where he brought Mizu and Taigen to recover from serious wounds in a battle, Eiji accepted their arrival and allowed him to stay at the workshop to recuperate. Eiji was helpful and kind to Ringo and offered to make Ringo his apprentice and teach him the art of swordmaking, Ringo shared to him that he wanted to become a Samurai, but felt like this was an impossible dream due to his disability, however Eiji encouraged him to continue aiming for his dream, as he was still able to become a Swordsmith despite being blind.
